The EC 1 Smart Home central unit/gateway is designed for autonomous management of a 1-Wire network. The user doesn't need to worry about any 1-Wire commands or formulas for evaluating sensor data. The EC1 gateway autonomously scans the 1-Wire network for components (sensors, actuators, keys). The central unit internally evaluates sensor and actuator data and cyclically outputs it in plain text, already converted (e.g., for temperature sensors in Celsius). Additionally, the article number for ESERA modules can be entered, and the calculation and output are adjusted to the module's function. A wide range of sensors is available, such as temperature, humidity, dew point, air quality (CO2, VOC, or particulate matter), digital alarm contacts, glass break, and smoke detectors. The 1-Wire interface of the sensor gateway of the EC 1 central unit is designed to securely handle both small and large 1-Wire networks with long cable runs. The 1-Wire sensors can be operated simultaneously in parasitic* or normal mode. The currently most powerful 1-Wire interface has been installed for maximum data security, even for complex network structures. For power supply, the EC 1 Smart Home Sensor Gateway has a wide input range of 9 - 30VDC, making it equally suitable for 12VDC and the typical 24VDC industrial supply voltages. Active termination for 1-Wire networks In a 1-Wire network, the 1-Wire Term 1 provides a defined termination at the end of the 1-Wire network, thus ensuring a stable and professional 1-Wire network. The 1-Wire Term 1 is therefore a basic component of every 1-Wire network. The module contains a passive and active terminating resistor and a signaling of bus activity. The active termination (1-Wire Term 1) is highly recommended to increase the maximum line length and improve the system stability of the 1-Wire network, especially for long 1-Wire lines and for a star or tree topology setup. In a 1-Wire network, up to 3 1-Wire Term 1 modules can be connected. The 1-Wire Term 1 is very compact and can be ideally installed in a flush-mounted box. If the 1-Wire network is star-shaped, i.e. with several 1-Wire cable sections, a 1-Wire Term 1 module should be connected to each end. You should not use more than three 1-Wire Term 1 modules in a 1-Wire network. Linear Topology The structure corresponds to the linear topology with the difference that the slaves are connected to the main line via cables with a length of more than 3m (branch, stub).   Star or tree topology The network is divided into several large strings at or near the 1-Wire bus coupler / 1-Wire controller /1-Wire hub (bus master). The EDI 404 4-fold digital input module makes it easy to query push-buttons, switches or reed contacts (magnetic switches). For example, the status of doors, windows, fire dampers or a garage door can be recorded by simply installing a reed switch at a suitable location and connecting it to the DI module. The status LED flashes when there are signal changes at the inputs. Even short switching pulses, e.g. from buttons, are detected by the ESI 400 module and stored until the next readout cycle. The ESI 400 4-fold DI module can be connected directly to switches or push-buttons. No external power supply is required for the switches. The module can be supplied with a 5V - 12V operating voltage.
