Correct positioning of the thermometer is crucial to ensure accurate measurement results. Many measurement errors can be avoided by positioning the thermometer in a suitable place. Please note the following points:
Direct sunlight: Avoid direct sunlight, as this can lead to inaccurate measurements. Installation in the shade is recommended.
Intrinsic heat of the building: The intrinsic heat of a building can cause measurement errors. An intermediate layer of insulating material between the sensor housing and the building wall can help.
Re-radiation: Make sure that the thermometer is not affected by radiation from a neighboring building.
As a guideline for installing an outdoor temperature sensor on buildings, we recommend positioning it to the north of the building at a height of around 2 meters.
By following these recommendations, measurement errors of around 1-2°C can be avoided.
